Kmart launches Wishing Tree

Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal

On Monday 11 November, Kmart Australia officially launched the Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal together with founding charity partner The Salvation Army. Now in its 32nd year, the Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal is Australia’s largest and longest-running Christmas gift Appeal and has raised more than 8 million gifts for people doing it tough.

With just over 3 million people living below the poverty line1, this year the Appeal invites the community to come together and contribute just $1 to their shopping trip. If every customer contributes a single dollar, collectively this can make a significant difference to those in need and help lift the financial burden during Christmas and beyond.

The Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal will be available in stores from Monday 11 November and will be officially launched in stores from Tuesday 12 November. Gift contributions will be accepted until Christmas Eve, 24 December 2019 and financial contributions until 31 January 2020.

Ways to get involved in the Appeal include:

  1. Take a bauble tag off the Wishing Tree in store and scan the barcode at the register to contribute
  2. Choose a practical gift that will go beyond Christmas time and leave it under the Wishing Tree in store**
  3. Drop a coin in the collection box at any register
  4. Give online at www.kmart.com.au/wishingtree

Bankstown Central and Vicinity Centres are proud to support the Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal in 2019.

**Gifts do not need to be purchased from Kmart nor do they need to be wrapped. We are unable to accept used or second-hand gifts and encourage those to give practical gifts that will help people in need all year round.
